About the Event

This is the 2nd annual RCCC Scholastic Chess Tournament open to all students K-12. After the tournament, all participants (and their accompanying parents/guardians) are invited to attend a chess lesson presented by Women's Grandmaster and former U.S. Chess Champion Irina Krush. The lesson will begin at 2:00 PM. Immediately following the lesson, WGM Krush will play up to 25 players simultaneously!

All games G/25 d5.

Rounds begin at 9:30 and then ASAP. Rounds will begin earlier if prior rounds finish more quickly.

2:00 PM - Lesson and Simul with WGM Irina Krush is included in the price of tournament registration. During registration, there will be an option to join the simul. Other members of the public who wish to attend can join the Rockland County Chess Club on the day of event to participate in the simul.

Sections: K-5 Unrated K-5 Under 600 (Rated) K-5 Open (Rated) 6-8 Open (Rated) 9-12 Open (Rated)

US Chess Federation (USCF) Membership is required for all participants playing in rated sections. If your child is not yet rated, s/he can still participate in a rated section by joining the USCF.

Special Discounted Rate for New USCF Members! The Rockland County Chess Club is pleased to offer a discounted rate of $10 for a one year membership to the United States Chess Federation (USCF). After you go to the registration page, find the link at the bottom of the first page under "For new memberships..."

Format - 4 Round Swiss Sys. All participants will play in all four rounds regardless of outcomes. The tournament will end at approximately 12:30 PM.

Prizes - Trophies for top 5 players in each section. Medals for all other participants.

No outside food or drink (other than water) is permitted as per our host venue's policy. Food/snacks and beverages will be available for purchase on-site.
